On the day...
On arrival at The Workshop, you will be welcomed with hot drinks & pastries from our local bakery, followed by an introduction from one of our Cheesemakers which will include a brief history of how Village Maid Cheese started. We will then begin the cheesemaking workshop.
At this workshop you will be learning the fundamentals of cheesemaking including renneting, scalding, draining, pressing and salting. You will be putting these techniques into practice to make an authentic, sheep's milk halloumi-style cheese as well as ricotta, both of which you will be able to take home the same day! You will also be taken on a guided tour of the dairy to see our cheesemaking team in action, followed by a tour of the maturing rooms to learn how cheese is matured.
Finally you will take part in a tasting session of our six award-winning artisan cheeses, learning how to taste cheese and what to pair them with so you can create the ultimate cheeseboard at home!
